Glow For The Whole Family with Goldfaden MD

by The Culinistas

Goldfaden MD is the brainchild of Dr. Gary Goldfaden, his daughter, Lisa, and his daughter-in-law, Lauren. Dr. Goldfaden has been in dermatological practice for over 40 years and has used his vast experience with hands-on procedures as well as his knowledge of science-backed uses of plant-based ingredients to develop a special line of skin care. Dr. Goldfaden calls Vitamin A to our attention, which “actually thickens your epidermis, which becomes thinner with age, and also improves the elasticity of your skin.” Vitamin A can be found in carrots, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, and spinach. The brand uses carrots in their Wake Up Call moisturizer. Coconut Oil is another super emollient that helps bind water to the skin. The active ingredient is caprylic acid, which allows skin to absorb anti-aging nutrients. Additionally, it is antibacterial and antimicrobial, helping to fight acne and other bacterial skin problems. The Goldfadens also promote the use of probiotics in skin health and radiance.  Dr Goldfaden says that “Probiotics can help decrease redness and the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. Probiotics also aid in increasing elasticity of the skin and smoothness.” He uses probiotics in their Mist RX, which protects the face from pollution. We sat down with the Goldfadens to talk all about glowing, plant powered skincare.

Culinary staples in your kitchen

Cilantro, olive oil, pickles

Glowing Skin Menu Picks

Morning Glory Bread (with carrot, zucchini, banana, flax seed, sunflower seed, rolled oat, coconut sugar, apple cider vinegar, cardamom)

We love anything that incorporates seeds and cardamom! Carrot is high in beta carotene and great for the skin. Beta carotene is a precursor of Vitamin A, which is what our retinol is derived from along with sweet potatoes.

Spinach Salad with Grilled Apricots (with spinach, apricot, lima bean, queso fresco, pepita, lemon)

Spinach is loaded with Vitamins K, A, iron and magnesium. Apricots are high in antioxidants, Vitamins A + E and help the skin feel more hydrated. Found in many of our formulations.

Poached Salmon with Spring Peas (wild salmon, spring pea, shallot, crushed red pepper, lemon)

We love salmon as it is loaded with A1, a form of retinol. Such a superfood for the body and skin due to the high levels of essential fatty acids and protein.

Sauteed Shrimp with Tomato and Spinach (wild shrimp, tomato, spinach, sage, garlic, lemon)

Tomatoes are high in lycopene, folate and vitamin C. Plus anything sautéed with garlic is a recipe for health as it has so many benefits including lowering cholesterol, upping the immune system and providing anti-inflammatory benefits.

Carrot Roasted Brussels (with brussels sprout, carrot, golden raisin, almond, cilantro, lemon)

Carrots and cilantro are two of our favorite ingredients. Carrots are loaded with beta carotene and also a source of the Vitamin A we use in our products. Cilantro is extremely beneficial for helping detox heavy metals from the body.

Meyer Lemon Tart (with meyer lemon, black berry, rice flour, agave, egg, butter, sumac)

Meyer lemons are a gift from nature as citric acid is great for exfoliation purposes. Black berries are one of the healthiest fruits you can ingest due to their high levels of Vitamin C, A and K. All of these vitamins are crucial for even and glowing skin. Plus, sumac is an amazing antioxidant which has been shown to help neutralize free radicals while also being beneficial in cardiovascular health.
