The Mother of All Gift Guides

by The Culinistas

It’s no secret that this past year has been especially tough for parents, so this Mother’s Day, we’re going above and beyond for those special moms in our lives (biological, just plain magical, or otherwise). For a little gifting inspiration, we asked a few of our favorite mamas to share with us the best Mother’s Day gifts they’ve ever been given and their answers did not disappoint.

From homemade to haute, we’ve got you (and the special mom in your life) covered.

Cosmetics entrepreneur, Bobbi Brown: When I was on my first ever book tour in the 90s, I was in LA without my family on Mother’s Day. My husband sent me a video of my two young boys wishing me a happy Mother’s Day — it was adorable. They also got me my first pair of Ted Mueling earrings, which was just the start of my collection. Ted Mueling is still one of my ultimate faves.

Model and actress, Molly Sims: The best gift I’ve ever received is having someone (aka my husband) cook dinner for me… and do the dishes. I also think the best gift to give someone is something personalized. Mark & Graham has been my go-to gift over the years. Giving a monogrammed gift is always so special, especially for moms. It’s just that extra step that makes all the difference. (Check out Molly’s gift guide for Mark & Graham here.)

Noah Clothing co-founder, Estelle Bailey-Babenzien (pictured below with her daughter, Sailor): One of the best gifts I got was a homemade voucher to a spa day at home where my hubby and little girl treated me to breakfast in bed, served me wine in a bubble bath and then gave me a massage. All very lovely! They also presented me with a gift which was a t-shirt and bag from Clare V. Clare V products are all made in LA and are great quality and great gifts. For Mother’s Day, I especially love the collection that gives back to the Every Mother Counts Foundation, so it’s a double win gift!

Our go-to guru for prenatal, postnatal, and pediatric nutrition, Alexandra Bandier: One of my favorite Mother’s Day gifts was a handwritten note from my husband. Nothing is better than seeing how someone feels in writing and being able to save it (and read again on those more challenging days).

Babiators and Red Clay Hot Sauce co-founder, Molly Fienning: Best gift I’ve been given: Anything home-made. My two boys created their own love-filled art for me last mother’s day. My baby boy, Fox, made a painting, and my elder son, Sawyer, created a love haiku in my honor. I can’t imagine anything better.

Founder & CEO of Drink Ramona, Jordan Salcito: My dear friend Ronit Berkman, an incredible mama of 16-year-old twins, gifted me the most beautiful present last year: a portrait series with my two sons. Her organization, Hamptons Porch Portraits, involves a photoshoot outdoors (very COVID-safe!) and 100% of the proceeds are donated to The Fund for 631, The Retreat, South Hampton Hospital, or a local charity of one’s choice.

Chef, restaurateur and new mom, Camilla Marcus: I always love giving flowers to the mamas in my life, throughout the year, either from the local farmer’s market or from County Line Florals here in Los Angeles. There is also something very special about Samantha Knight’s initial pendants. She is a dear friend with an amazing eye for unique pieces. The pendants make incredibly special gifts for new mamas to beautifully celebrate the arrival of little ones.
